Your content is not late. Your approval is.

Sometimes a business does not have a content-production problem. The videos are recorded. The edits are finished. The captions are written.

Then everything sits in a folder for three weeks waiting for somebody to say yes.

I have seen this happen with owners who want to be consistent. They invest the time, bring in a team, finish the work, and then create an approval process where six people can comment but nobody can make the final decision.

The editor is waiting on marketing. Marketing is waiting on the founder. The founder wants someone from operations to check one sentence. Operations has no idea there is a deadline. Now a video about something timely gets published a month later when nobody cares anymore.

That is not an editing delay. It is an ownership problem.

Before anything gets filmed, one person needs the authority to approve it. Other people can check facts, compliance, or technical details when necessary, but they should not all have the power to restart the conversation.

You also need a review window. If drafts arrive Tuesday, feedback might be due Thursday and final approval Friday. The exact timeline does not matter. What matters is that everyone knows when silence becomes approval and when the content moves forward.

Inside a content system, the founder should not be reviewing every comma, crop, caption, and upload setting. Your judgment matters when the message changes, a claim needs approval, or the offer is being represented. It does not need to be spent choosing between two identical subtitle positions.

At the end of the day, unpublished content has a return of zero. It does not matter how good the camera was or how much time the editor spent on it.

If your team keeps saying content is late, look at where the files are actually sitting. There is a good chance production is finished and everyone is waiting for a decision.

Name the approver. Set the deadline. Let the work leave the folder.
