Why You Shouldn't Delete Your Old Content (Even If It's Bad)
Every time a business owner decides to take their personal brand seriously, their first instinct is to delete all their old content. They look back at the poorly lit, unscripted videos from two years ago and cringe. They want a clean slate for their new, professional image.
Do not delete your old content. It is a massive mistake that hurts your credibility and damages your algorithmic standing.
First, nobody is scrolling back two years to judge your old videos. People generally only look at your last twelve to fifteen posts. The anxiety about your old content is entirely in your own head.
Second, leaving your old content up shows growth. When a potential client does happen to scroll back, they see the evolution. They see that you have been in the game for a long time, that you have improved, and that you are committed to your craft. Authenticity builds far more trust than a perfectly curated, sterile feed.
Instead of scrubbing your past, focus entirely on stacking new, high-quality content on top of it. Let your current expertise drown out your early mistakes. The algorithm rewards consistency and history, so keep your archive intact and just focus on making the next video better than the last.
