What happens when you hire the $500/month "full-service" agency

Here's what happens when you hire the $500/month "full-service" agency, from anywhere in the world.

And I see this happen time and time again, and why most business owners do this is because of 2 reasons:

  1. lack of information on what works and what doesn't, have very surface level information

  2. lack of experience on what they should expect and what they're looking for

If you've already been through 4 cheap alternatives, you come to 1 of the 2 conclusions: you either understand why it costs more and start looking at other avenues other than cost, like for e.g what case studies do they have? what is their process like? are we a good culture fit? Do I enjoy working with this person? Of course ROI is always on the front.

Or You just don't hire agencies and take a completely different approach. This can be dangerous as you might be on the road to get gold but pivot at the last minute, because in my experience as someone who has gone through agencies and coaching programs myself, the good ones always give you the right information which is very valuable for future decision making.

Here's are some direct signs that your marketing company needs a conversation:

  • Generic content that looks like everyone else

  • Campaigns haven't been updated in months

  • Basic boosted posts instead of proper ad campaigns, no research behind it

  • Zero understanding of your business goals and how your industry operates

I've seen businesses waste 6 months and thousands of dollars trying to save money on marketing. The real cost isn't what you spend, it's the growth you miss out on while doing things wrong.
