Things You Need to Unlearn About Posting Short Form Content

You've been told a lot of things about short form content.

Most of it is wrong.

Here are 5 things you need to unlearn about posting short form content.

1. AI can do everything for you.

No. It can't.

AI can help you script. AI can help you ideate. AI can help you edit (very light edits)

But AI cannot replace you on camera. AI cannot replace your voice. AI cannot replace your perspective.

People want to see you. Not an AI avatar. Not an AI voice. Not AI generated content that sounds like everyone else.

If you're using AI to avoid showing up, you're solving the wrong problem.

Use AI as a tool. Not as a replacement.

2. Images and graphics are enough.

They're not. Not even close.

Images and graphics get scrolled past. People don't stop. People don't engage. People don't remember you.

Video stops the scroll. Video builds trust. Video shows your personality. Video makes people feel like they know you.

If you're only posting images and graphics, you're invisible.

You need to be on camera. You need to show your face. You need to let people see who you are.

That's how you build trust. That's how you stand out. That's how you get remembered.

3. Posting high quality but less is better.

No. Nothing beats consistency.

You can post the highest quality content in the world. If you only post once a week, you're getting outworked by someone posting every day.

Consistency beats quality. Consistency builds momentum. Consistency keeps you top of mind.

And here's the thing. You can have both. You can post high quality content every day.

If you couple consistency with quality, you have an unstoppable force.

But if you have to choose, choose consistency. Post every day. Get better as you go.

Don't wait for perfect. Perfect never comes.

4. LinkedIn is where you can only reach decision makers.

That's not how LinkedIn works.

LinkedIn is not used as casually as Instagram or TikTok. People don't scroll LinkedIn for hours. They check it once or twice a day. They engage with a few posts. Then they leave.

The percentage size between platforms makes a huge impact on reachability to your target market.

Instagram has over 2 billion users. TikTok has over 1 billion users. LinkedIn has 900 million users.

And here's the bigger point. Instagram and TikTok users spend hours per day on the platform. LinkedIn users spend minutes.

If your target market is on Instagram, you're reaching them when they're scrolling for 2 hours. If your target market is on LinkedIn, you're reaching them when they're scrolling for 10 minutes.

LinkedIn is great. But it's not the only place. And it's not always the best place.

Go where your audience spends their time. Not where you think they should be.

5. Posting times, hashtags, and captions hold significant weight.

They don't. The main thing is the actual video post.

You can post at the perfect time. You can use the perfect hashtags. You can write the perfect caption.

If your video doesn't stop the scroll, none of it matters.

The video is everything. The hook. The first 3 seconds. The content. The value.

That's what makes people stop. That's what makes people watch. That's what makes people engage.

Posting times, hashtags, and captions are optimizations. They help a little. But they don't make or break your content.

Focus on the video. Make it good. Make it valuable. Make it stop the scroll.

Everything else is secondary.

Here's what you should focus on instead.

Show up on camera. Post every day. Make the video the priority. Go where your audience actually spends their time. Use AI as a tool, not a replacement.

Unlearn the myths. Focus on what actually works.'
