The Only 3 Organic Metrics That Matter on LinkedIn
LinkedIn has become a noisy, crowded platform. Everyone is a thought leader. Everyone is posting polls and engagement-bait. It’s easy to get caught up in the game of chasing likes, comments, and followers. But these are the digital equivalent of empty calories. They make you feel good for a moment, but they don’t build a healthy business.
After analyzing hundreds of successful B2B accounts, we’ve found that there are only three organic metrics on LinkedIn that correlate directly with revenue. If you focus on these, and only these, you will build a predictable pipeline of high-value clients.
First, Profile Views from your target audience. When a senior executive in your ideal industry views your profile, it’s a powerful signal. It means your content was compelling enough to make them stop scrolling and ask, “Who is this person?” This is the top of your personal sales funnel. Are you tracking how many of these you get per week?
Second, Connection Requests with a personalized note. A generic connection request is meaningless. But when a prospect takes the time to write a note that says, “I’ve been following your content and I’d love to connect,” that is a qualified lead. They are raising their hand and inviting you into their network. This is a clear indicator that your content is resonating with the right people.
Third, and most important, Unsolicited Inbound Messages. This is the holy grail. This is when a prospect bypasses the connection request and goes straight to your inbox to ask a question about your services. This is not a cold lead; this is a hot lead. They are coming to you. All of your content, all of your profile optimization, all of your engagement should be engineered to produce this single outcome. Stop chasing likes and start building a system that generates conversations.
