My Honest Opinion on When In House Hiring Makes Sense for Content

We work with hundreds of businesses across multiple industries.

And the reason why we do this is because once we find a winning formula and we know that this applies to multiple industries, it's a very efficient model for us as well.

Instead of just helping one specific niche.

Because we figured out a formula on what scripting and strategy works for one set of market, maybe it's B2B, what strategy and scripting works for one set of market, which is B2C.

There's only two main markets, B2B and B2C.

Specifics don't necessarily matter because at the end of every single day, you're marketing to human beings who are still using social media.

And our job is to convince them to buy from you specifically.

Now, if you already have every single thing dialed in, let's say, for example, you've been working with an agency for six to eight months, and every single thing has been going good, but now you're at a stage where you're like, okay, we know what formula works best for us, now I want to move this in house because I want to control some personal levers within our own company.

Now, if you're at a point where you do have time to hire specific creative people, whether it's a social media manager, videographer, editor, and actually invest time in making sure that these people are doing a confident job, and then of course, eventually hire a director or a manager to manage this content team, then you should probably consider looking into this in house.

But if you generally, on a general level, do not have time to do that, then hiring an agency always makes more sense.

Because, for example, when you come to us, we already know what specifically works for you, and it's very plug and play.

We'll do our homework within the first two weeks on what specifically needs to be done for your business, and then we apply it throughout all the social channels.

And we've had businesses that stay with us for years and years on end.

It doesn't matter what stages they reach because it just makes sense to continue to grow with us and keep having that support because they don't feel like nothing is missing.

Plus, they get the benefit of, let's say, when you have a team of your own, like a videographer leaves, a social media manager leaves, accounting manager leaves, now you need to have hiring processes, training systems, all of these SOPs need to be created for your in house team.

We just do that on your behalf already.

So, for example, let's say one of the account managers is underperforming, we just replace it with another one.

Let's say one of the editors are not necessarily editing to your standard. We'll just replace the editor.

So we have that control and we execute it in a very fast manner so your stuff doesn't slow down.

And that is extremely important because as soon as you take this in house, you have multiple levers to pull and things will slow down eventually.

Only if you don't necessarily have the dedicated time to help manage that team grow.

Other than that, I think you should mainly just go with hiring a competent agency who is willing to learn more about the business and have a good track record.

Here's what most people don't understand.

In house sounds great. But in house is expensive, slow, and risky.

You need to hire a social media manager, a videographer, an editor, a director or manager to manage them all.

That's four salaries. Plus benefits. Plus training time. Plus management time.

And when someone leaves, which they will, you need to start over. Hiring process. Training process. Ramp up time.

Your content slows down. Your momentum dies. Your growth stalls.

And if you don't have the dedicated time to manage that team, it falls apart.

So here's when in house makes sense.

You've been working with an agency for six to eight months. Everything is dialed in. You know what works.

And you have the time to hire, train, and manage a full content team. And you want to control personal levers within your company.

If that's you, then yes, consider in house.

But if you don't have that time, if you're still figuring out what works, if you don't want the risk of hiring and training and replacing people, then an agency makes more sense.

Because we already know what works. We do the homework in two weeks. We apply it across all channels.

And when someone underperforms or leaves, we replace them immediately. Your content doesn't slow down.

That's the benefit of an agency. No hiring. No training. No risk. No slowdown.

Just results.
