Why Knowing a Bit About What You Hire For Saves You Time
Heyy, how’s it going
Hope you're doing great! Today, I've got a story for you that taught me a big lesson the hard way. It's all about why it's super important to know a little about the job you're hiring someone to do.
Quick Hiring Tip
Ever hired someone because you needed help with something you didn't know much about? I did, and here's what happened.
My Story With a Video Editor
I needed a video edited fast for something important I was working on. I found this guy, hired him, and thought all was good. But then, there was a problem with the video's sound, it was only coming out of one speaker!
I told him, "Hey, we need to fix this fast." Time went by—20 minutes, then 40, then almost an hour. I kept asking, "What's taking so long?" He gave me a bunch of technical reasons why it was complicated.
But here's the thing, I know a bit about editing videos. And I knew it was actually a simple fix. So, I told him exactly what to do, and guess what? It was fixed in no time.
What I Learned
This whole thing showed me that if I didn't know a bit about video editing, I would have believed his excuses and waited even longer. Knowing a little bit about the work you're hiring for can make a huge difference. It saves time and stops people from pulling the wool over your eyes.
So, Here's My Advice
Whenever you're hiring someone, try to learn a bit about what they'll be doing. It doesn't mean you have to be an expert, but just knowing the basics can help you a lot.
That's it for now. Remember, a little knowledge goes a long way, especially when you're in charge.
Take care,
