Is your content attracting people who want the wrong service?

A word can sound good in a script and still give customers the wrong idea about your service. A smoother phrase isn't an improvement if it makes them expect something you don't provide.

In a conversation with a business owner, they raised exactly that concern. A broader label didn't describe the specialist service properly. That distinction changes what the customer thinks they're buying.

Imagine you offer equipment inspections. Calling them 'maintenance visits' might sound more familiar, but it can suggest you're coming to fix or service the equipment. Now somebody is booking one job while you're preparing to do another.

Neither person has to be unreasonable for that conversation to become awkward. The wording did the damage before you picked up the phone.

Before approving a script, pin down the meaning of the service label. Describe what the customer actually receives, what sits outside that service, and which similar terms mean something different. Give the writer the distinction, not just an instruction to 'make it sound better'.

Then read the proposed wording as a customer, not as an expert who already knows the answer. What work would you expect to happen? Would you assume something is included that isn't? If so, change the phrase before filming.

That's the standard I'd want from our team at Fokus. A script should make your service easier to understand, not quietly turn it into a different service because the replacement sounds catchier.

You can still use plain language. Explain an unfamiliar term rather than swapping it for an inaccurate one. And check the title and caption too. An accurate explanation doesn't help much if the headline promises the wrong thing.

Open your next script and look at the words naming the service. Would a stranger describe the same job you intend to deliver? If not, fix the label. You shouldn't need a sales call to take back your own wording.
