Getting bad leads? Start with this question.

You finish a sales call, look at the calendar, and think, “Another bad lead.” Fair enough. But bad how? Were they after the wrong service, expecting something you do not offer, or simply not somebody you can help?

Because “not qualified” is not feedback. It is a dead end.

If that is all your marketing team sees, they cannot tell whether the problem began with the ad, the content, the booking page, or the sales conversation. They are being asked to fix a leak without knowing which pipe is dripping. Very glamorous work.

The useful note is the actual mismatch. Maybe people expect a cheaper version of your service. Maybe they need something outside your scope. Maybe they book before they understand the commitment. Those are different problems, so they need different fixes.

Once you record the reason, look for repetition. One odd enquiry is part of business. Five people arriving with the same wrong expectation is a message.

That message might mean the script needs to be clearer. It might mean an ad promise is pulling in the wrong person. It might point to a qualification question, a better explanation before booking, or a sales issue instead. You do not need to guess which one before you start paying attention.

In one of our team working sessions, thin CRM notes made it almost impossible to see why leads were not a fit. The sales side hears conversations marketing never gets to hear.

At Fokus, that context helps us tighten the loop between content, Meta creative, qualification, and the CRM. It is not another admin job for the sake of admin. It is useful information your team can improve from.

After a bad-fit call, ask one question: what specifically made this person a poor fit? Capture it while it is fresh. In a month, you may have a pattern. A pattern is something you can actually act on.
