Do You Plan to Stay Small Forever?
I talk to a lot of businesses who say "I'm a small business. Do you have anything for small businesses?"
Here's my question back. Do you plan to stay small forever?
That mindset is dangerous. That mindset keeps you stuck. That mindset is the reason you're still small.
Let me explain.

Customers are not going to come from the sky.
You can't sit around and hope customers find you. You can't wait for referrals. You can't rely on word of mouth.
Not in 2026. Not with AI making it easier for everyone to create content. Not with every competitor running ads and posting daily.
Customers come from visibility. Visibility comes from content and ads. Content and ads require investment.
Time or money. Pick one. But you have to invest.
If you're not willing to invest, you're choosing to stay small. That's not a strategy. That's a decision to lose.
Businesses who are doing well didn't get there by accident.
They didn't get lucky. They didn't stumble into success. They didn't wait for customers to show up.
They followed a process. They invested in their education. They learned the skills. They hired the right people at the right time. They delegated. They scaled.
That's how you grow. Not by staying small. Not by avoiding investment. Not by saying "I'm a small business" like it's an excuse.
Being small is not a permanent state. It's a choice. And if you're choosing to stay small, you're choosing to lose.
If you're under $10K per month, you need to learn the skills yourself.
Here's the reality. If you're doing under $10K per month, you can't afford to hire an agency. You can't afford to hire someone to run your ads. You can't afford to outsource your marketing.
Not yet.
You need to learn it yourself. You need to test it yourself. You need to figure out what works.
You need a proven offer first. You need a scalable model. You need to know your numbers.
Then you hire someone. Then you delegate. Then you scale.
But right now, you need to be in the trenches. You need to be learning. You need to be testing. You need to be figuring it out.
That's not fun. That's not easy. But that's what it takes to stop being small.
At some point, you have to make changes.
You can't keep doing what you're doing and expect different results. You can't keep avoiding content and ads and expect to grow. You can't keep saying "I'm a small business" and expect customers to care.
They don't care. They care about who shows up. They care about who they see. They care about who they trust.
If you're not showing up, someone else is. If you're not creating content, your competitor is. If you're not running ads, they are.
And they're winning. Not from luck. From doing the work you're avoiding.
At some point, you have to make changes. You have to invest your time. You have to invest your money. You have to stop hiding behind "I'm a small business."
That's not a reason. That's an excuse.
The "small business" mindset is killing you.
Every time you say "I'm a small business," you're reinforcing the idea that you're supposed to stay small. You're giving yourself permission to avoid the work. You're justifying why you're not growing.
Stop it.
You're not a small business. You're a business that's choosing to stay small. And that's a choice you can change.
Start creating content. Start running ads. Start investing in your growth. Start learning the skills you need to scale.
Stop waiting for customers to find you. Stop hoping things will change. Stop saying "I'm a small business" like it's a badge of honor.
It's not. It's a warning sign. It's a signal that you're not willing to do what it takes to grow.
Here's what to do.
If you're under $10K per month, learn the skills yourself. Start posting content every day. Start running ads with $1,500 per month minimum. Budget for 3-4 months. Test. Learn. Figure out what works.
If you're over $10K per month and you're still not creating content or running ads, you're leaving money on the table. Hire someone. Delegate. Scale.
But stop using "I'm a small business" as an excuse. Stop waiting for things to change. Stop avoiding the work.
You either grow or you die. There's no middle ground. Not in 2026. Not with AI making it easier for everyone to compete. Not with every competitor showing up daily.
Do you plan to stay small forever?
If the answer is no, start acting like it. Start investing. Start learning. Start doing the work.
If the answer is yes, stop complaining. Stop asking for help. Stop expecting different results.
You can't have it both ways. You can't stay small and expect to grow. You can't avoid investment and expect results.
Pick one. Grow or stay small. But stop pretending you can do both.
