Create educational based content and stop trying to be an influencer

"I need to go viral to get clients."

No, you don't. You need to be trusted.

There's a fundamental difference between content that entertains and content that converts. Most business owners get this wrong, chasing likes instead of leads.

Let me explain why educational content outperforms entertainment every time:

INFLUENCER APPROACH:
• Create trending content (skits, dances, challenges)
• Chase viral moments and engagement
• Appeal to the broadest possible audience
• Result: Lots of followers who never become customers

AUTHORITY APPROACH:
• Create educational content about your expertise
• Address specific pain points your customers face
• Demonstrate your process and methodology
• Result: Fewer followers who actually buy from you

The math is simple, 10,000 followers who don't buy from you are worth less than 100 followers who do.

Here's what authority content looks like in practice:

  • A financial advisor explaining tax strategies for business owners
    • A chiropractor demonstrating proper posture techniques
    • A lawyer breaking down common contract mistakes

Notice what's missing? Dancing. Trending sounds. Trying to be funny.

You don't need any of that. You need to be helpful.

Can educational content still be engaging? Absolutely.

Car dealerships are the perfect example. The ones creating content showing real negotiations and behind-the-scenes deals aren't trying to entertain, they're showing their expertise in action.

Viewers watch these videos and think, "I know how these people work. I trust them more than the dealership I've never seen in action."

That's not entertainment. That's demonstration of expertise.

Will this approach push some people away? Yes.

And that's a good thing.

The people who are turned off by your educational content were never going to be your customers anyway. They were just going to inflate your follower count while your bank account stayed empty.

Focus on the mountain of potential clients, not the bump of casual scrollers.

Every piece of content you create should answer one question: "Will this help my ideal client understand why they should work with me?"

If the answer is no, don't post it.

Stop trying to be an influencer. Start being an authority.

Because in business, trust converts better than entertainment every time.
