The AI Models are rewarded for giving polite, non-controversial responses, which prioritizes your satisfaction over critical truth. This makes the AI feel friendly, but it means the system is programmed to affirm your comfort rather than challenge your views or assumptions.

This "agreeable" programming poses a real danger in complex tasks. Imagine asking for an AI review of a contract. If you express that the contract "seems fine," the AI is likely to agree with you and overlook critical flaws. Instead of acting like a vigilant, impartial expert who searches for weaknesses and hidden liabilities, the agreeable AI simply reinforces your existing bias. It becomes an echo chamber, confirming your perspective instead of offering the necessary, objective scrutiny.

To overcome this bias, you must actively prompt the AI to be critical. The key is to stop asking it to "help" and explicitly command it to "challenge." Bypass its polite default setting by forcing it into an adversarial role. Try prompts like, "Act as a devil's advocate and list the three biggest weaknesses of this plan," or "Adopt the persona of a skeptical expert and find all the hidden flaws in this document." You must explicitly demand criticism to get reliable, non-biased analysis.

I’ve seen a recent influx of people using AI to review contracts and check if they are being 'screwed over.' The AI is designed to protect you 100%, and this biases the proposed changes heavily in your favor. The natural next step is to send these demands to the other party for amendments. Without realizing it, however, the changes you send are not necessarily an 'agreement'; they become a one-sided affair. This aggressive position may seem disrespectful or unreasonable, potentially harming your chances of the other party proceeding at all. Instead, leverage AI to simply summarize and ask specific questions about the contract to deepen your understanding, not to aggressively redraft.
