A key insight from this election from a marketing perspective
One of the biggest takeaways from recent elections is the undeniable shift in where people consume information. Traditional media like TV is losing ground to social media, YouTube, short-form video, and podcasts. Candidates even for the presidency are recognizing the influence of these platforms by contacting directly with podcasters and influencers. This trend reveals a fundamental power shift from traditional channels to individuals who hold influence in the digital space.

Here’s what this shift tells us
Social Platforms Are Dominating: Social media is now the main arena where ideas and personalities shape public perception. The power once held by major TV networks is now with social channels and influencers, who have direct access to people.
Audience Connection Matters: People now prefer to get information from individuals they trust and relate to online, rather than through distant TV networks. This creates a more personal and impactful connection between leaders (or brands) and their audiences.
TV’s Rapid Decline: While TV is still relevant, its influence is fading fast. In the coming years, more viewership will move online, where connection and accessibility are prioritized.
If you’re not yet on social media creating video content, you’re still in the “TV phase.” The future of relevance is in engaging with audiences directly through social channels.
