2,000 followers, instead of 20,000

I've had conversations with people who have large followings, sometimes 50,000 or more, and while their content gets a lot of engagement and likes, there’s often one big issue, they don’t have anything to sell. Many wait until after they've built their audience to start selling, and while that can work, the results are often underwhelming.

When your target audience market (TAM) is the whole world, you're letting just anyone follow you, many of whom aren’t potential buyers.

On the other hand, I know people with less than 10,000 followers making six figures every month because their small, engaged audience is full of qualified leads. Think of it as a small bag of metal versus a large bag of feathers, it's not about size, but weight.

What Should You Do?

If you already have something to sell, you don’t need to be famous to sell it. You only need to attract people who fit your ideal demographic. Here’s how:

  • Talk to your specific audience: If your service is for homeowners, consistently create content that speaks directly to them.

  • Focus on the right content: Organic content can be unpredictable, but if you consistently post the right content aimed at the right audience, you’ll make it more likely to succeed.

  • Leverage Ads: Ads allow for precise targeting. I always recommend a mix of organic and paid strategies.

Remember, it’s better to have 2,000 qualified followers than 20,000 unqualified ones.
